Don Connolly is one of Canada's best known aviation artists. At 57 he has been very active in this field for the last ten years while at the same time achieving recognition in other areas of fine art. Drawing on his former RCAF aircrew experience, an abiding love of aviation, and a penchant for research, he creates works in an accurate and original style that has become his trademark. His work hangs in numerous private and public collections - including the National War Museum - and he probably does more commissioned work than any other artist in this field in Canada. Publication of his book "Painting Planes" in 1982 attracted much attention and in 1989 he was invited to display several paintings at the inaugural showing of aviation art at the National Aviation Museum. With his obvious enthusiasm and prolific output, his reputation is spreading quickly.
