A BARNSTORMER’S PICNIC
CALLING ALL BARNSTORMERS !
Members' Day, Saturday, September 18th, 2010
Your membership is important to us. We want to make this the best little barnstormers' picnic from the best little flight museum in Canada! Your special-event team is dedicated to making this year's presentation deeeeeliteful! You will also be treated to a special guest (more about that later).
The whinny of a radial engine is the perfect wind-up. And let the games begin! There will be saryome carney games of skill and chance. Can you pluck the right duck from the pond, get the chicken in the pot, ball in the milkcan, or hoop around the bottle of scotch and win a prize?
There will be plenty of beer and wine chilling in the trough......and where's the beef? Sizzling right alongside the succulent salmon on the barbeque. Take your pick from the salad bar because a huge potato salad is on ice in the washtub and someone made those cute little airplane croutons for the Caesar. There will be lots of corn-on-the cob in the pot, hot garlic bread and a cool make-your-own sundae bar to finish it all off! Aunt Pauline has made her famous pecan praline sundae sauce.....or maybe you'd prefer a volcano of hot fudge or the barnstormer's strawberry fields 'n cheesecake super sundae?
There will also be some munchies for the early birds (mini corn dogs and lots of caramel corn and lemonade). This isn't lunch - just something to nibble on after your plane ride (or if you're staying on the ground, that's okay too.)
So, what time does this all start? The plane rides begin in the morning, the time depending on demand and weather. The munchies and games will start at 2 p.m.
Our special guest (Lieutenant Governor Steven L. Point) will arrive in one of our aircraft at 4 p.m., and will be met by the 746 Air Cadet Squadron Honour Guard. His Honour will tour the Museum, make a brief speech, and there will be several presentations to members and volunteers. (Who are they? You'll just have to come and see!).
Dinner is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.....and don't forget to bring a pie for our pie-baking contest (will be judged after dinner). Pastry Chef Luigi Guidolin from the Mozart Bakery & Cafe will be the judge.
Your cost for this do is $10...and if you bring along a friend and sign 'em up as a new member, both of you get your meal free! (There's a great deal on new memberships, via the raffle - $20 for the rest of the year, plus a chance to ride the Harvard or Tiger Moth).
Tickets for the picnic are available at the museum now (or you can reserve them over the phone).
The cost of the aircraft rides is reduced from last year, as we've had great fuel support from sponsors this year. This year the costs are:
Fleet Finch - $75.00 each
De Havilland Tiger Moth - $75.00 each
Waco Cabin - $75.00 each person (usually two passengers)
North American Harvard - $250.00 each
The number of rides available is strictly limited, so commit early! Phone the Museum to book your ride and arrange payment,
See y'all there....but CAUTION AVIATORS - watch for chickens on field!
